Vulcan Engineering was established as a private company in 1986, initially as a supplier of branded packing and seal products. Since then the company has grown into one of the largest Single Spring Mechanical Seals manufacturers, Mechanical Gland Packings manufacturers, Encapsulated O-Rings manufacturers (FEPs) and Tefcan Expanded PTFE manufacturers.
Our products are principally sold through a UK, Continental Europe and now an increasingly world-wide distribution network.
Product Range
Vulcan have the widest range of Single Spring Mechanical Seals of any Mechanical Seal manufacturer. All seal types are backed by a comprehensive stock programme, giving ex-stock availability, on a complete range of sizes, in all common materials. Vulcan have also created a unique range of OEM DIN seals, suitable for all common working lengths and seat housings, these offer superior performance linked to exceptional pricing levels.
Vulcan produce design replacements for all standard John Crane unbalanced seals. Not only do they offer a number of design improvements but also substantial cost savings.
The company holds one of the largest and most competitively priced ranges, ex-stock of Packings, Encapsulated O-Rings (FEPs) and Tefcan Expanded PTFE in the world.
Production
All of our Single Spring Mechanical Seals are manufactured in our factory.

We currently employ 200 staff at our factory in the Far East and
50 in the UK at Sheffield.
In Sheffield, the company has a comprehensive seal repair service centre, dedicated assembly centre and design department. All distribution, sales and marketing are handled from Sheffield.
Material and Quality Control
Unlike many of our major competitors, who buy in Single Spring Seal components and then assemble them (or even purchase the whole assembly), all components used in our seals are produced in-house. This gives us direct control over the quality of the product. We are true Mechanical Seals manufacturers!
All face materials are manufactured in house from the base powder. We know of no other seal company that has such full control of all stages of manufacture.
Vulcan sources the highest quality products for our FEPs, Gland Packings and Expanded Tefcan PTFE. The company makes no compromise on quality or stockholding. We are true Encapsulated O-Rings manufacturers.
Vulcan continuously develops its Quality Control Procedures and
is Quality Assured by Lloyds, to ISO 9002. Our factory is Quality
Assured to ISO 9001. The company operates a Total Quality Management
programme to constantly monitor and improve our performance.
