Electronic Distributor Support Developments

Vulcan’s Customer Portal is simply the best resource available in the Seal Industry. We have continued to dedicate money and resources to further develop it and will continue to do so, both from our own initiatives and those ideas put to us from our customers. As well as its current functions, the Portal now has a number of additional functions which may/ will be of interest to you.

The Vulcan Seal ID Suite
Following on from the Industry unique OEM database, we are now pleased to announce the launch of the Vulcan Seal ID Suite. Any product catalogue can only give you a snap shot of what is available and the Vulcan Mechanical Seals catalogue is no exception, showing only a fraction of what is actually available within our total range.

Vulcan have therefore created the Seal ID Suite which will allow you to visually identify a mechanical seal either by appearance or competitor, this can be accessed by following the relevant links via our web site (www.vulcan-eng.com) and then the appropriate prompts on the left hand menu.

Without full seal, pump or competitor information, which can be critical, the Vulcan Seal ID suite allows you to identify a seal from its appearances by taking you through a number of processes and images, assisting you to further break down the ID process until you get to the seal you require.

Where possible, the part of the seal that you are identifying in each stage, is enhanced in red allowing you to click through the images faster to identify your seal with the minimal amount of work.

The Seal ID Suite will therefore enable you to discover not only the existing seals types, but also many others which have been developed since the release of our last mechanical seal catalogue.

Please do take the time to navigate through this as this could prove a very valuable sales tool when talking through seal identification with your customers. You can then pick up the seal code you require and quote your customer using the price and stock facility within the web portal.

Developments in Electronic Procurement
You can now place your orders electronically and automatically, giving surety, reliance and operational cost savings, via the customer web portal. It’s easily done. Please just contact Steve Lister on stephen.lister@vulcan-eng.com if of interest to you. We highly recommend it.

Instant On-Line Assistance
You can now access “Live Help” by merely clicking the “Live Support” icon, available at the bottom of every Portal page, to send us an instant message or query. This message is then instantly distributed within Vulcan to the best recipient. We’ve developed this system, which works in a similar manner to “MSN Messenger” to provide fast, assured responses and assistance, all available whilst working within the Portal.

Video Conferencing with Vulcan?
Vulcan are considering installing Video Conferencing facilities. The cost and performance of this equipment is now much improved. We believe it could offer a very convenient time and cost effective way for you and your Vulcan Account Manager to “meet electronically” and be able to conference and discuss issues and ideas, without having to wait for the next visit from us. If you have such a facility or you might be interested in the same, please let us know. We could provide assistance and share some of the cost!!

I hope that some of the points of above, if not all of it, will prove to be of some interest to you and we look forward to working with you in these areas over the coming months. If there is any specific point which is of interest or you have requirements within the above development areas then please contact your account manager to further discuss the matter.

In the meantime Vulcan will continue to make similar developments and will keep you up to date with these. Have a good 2009.

Best Regards
